  • Area cutouts for holes, openings, and exclusions
  • Circle and ellipse area tools
  • Complete sidebar redesign with three tab layout
  • Sub-groups, layer controls, and drag to reorder
  • 1/64" scale precision and smarter suggestions
  • Roof pitch multiplier for sloped surfaces
  • Snap to existing measurement endpoints

Freedraw Area Tool

Not every area fits neatly into a polygon or rectangle. Curved walls, irregular lot lines, landscaping beds, demolition zones.

The freedraw tool (shortcut F) lets you press and drag directly on the plan to trace an area freehand. When you release, the path is automatically cleaned up so your measurement is precise without placing individual points. Works the way you would trace a shape with a highlighter on a printed plan, except the result is an accurate area calculation.

Area Cutouts

Right-click any area measurement and select "Add Cutout" to draw a polygon hole inside it. Drywall minus door openings. Flooring minus columns and islands. Roofing minus skylights.

Cutouts clip to the parent boundary automatically, update the net area instantly, and you can stack multiple cutouts on a single measurement. Delete or duplicate them individually. They render correctly in both the canvas and PDF exports.

Circle and Ellipse Areas

Two-click interaction for round and elliptical shapes: click the center, click the edge. Lives in the area dropdown alongside polygon and rectangle. Full support across hit testing, sidebar display, CSV export, and PDF export.

Roof Pitch Multiplier

Plan measurements show horizontal projection. For roofing, siding, and sloped surfaces, the actual material area is larger. Apply one of 12 standard pitches (1/12 through 12/12) to any area measurement and the calculated area adjusts to reflect true surface area.

Sidebar Redesign

Rebuilt from scratch with three tabs: Takeoffs, Notes, and Pages.

Takeoffs shows measurements organized by group with inline totals. Compact single-line rows. Click any measurement to zoom to it on the canvas.

Notes shows annotations (text, arrows, rectangles, ellipses) in a sortable list.

Pages is a full-height page navigator with inline rename.

Sub-Groups and Layer Controls

Groups support one level of nesting with automatic color inheritance. Each group gets a three-state opacity toggle (full, dim, hidden), locking to prevent accidental edits, and drag-to-reorder. Color palette expanded from 8 to 16.

Search and Filter

Filter measurements by name or narrow by type (linear, area, count). On large documents with hundreds of measurements, this turns scrolling into a quick lookup.

Smarter Scales

64th precision. The full range of 1/64" architectural scales is now available for fine-detail sheets.

Better suggestions. The scale picker ranks by relevance and shows four options instead of three.

Safe deletion. Deleting a scale with measurements now shows the count of affected measurements and lets you reassign them before removing.

Duplicate, Snap, and Navigation

Duplicate any measurement with Ctrl+D (Cmd+D on Mac) or from the right-click menu.

Snap to endpoints locks your cursor to existing measurement endpoints for chaining and alignment.

Sidebar navigation zooms and centers the viewport on any measurement you click, including cross-page jumps.

Redesigned Tutorial

Rebuilt with dedicated steps for annotation tools, a sidebar walkthrough covering all three tabs, and help and support. Each step highlights the relevant UI element directly on the canvas.

Under the Hood

  • Rendering performance: measurement caching, optimized hit testing, reduced sidebar re-renders
  • Zoom stability fixes across Windows Chrome, Safari, and high-DPI displays
  • GPU texture detection to eliminate visual jolts at maximum zoom
  • API and security hardening with stricter validation
  • 55 country support for account registration
  • PDF export now handles cutouts, circles, ellipses, and polyline endpoints correctly
