Material Templates

This is the biggest feature since launch. Assembly templates turn your measurements into material lists automatically.

Pick a template, apply it to a group, and every measurement in that group gets a full material breakdown: quantities, waste factors, rounding, and cross-item formulas. Change the area of a slab and every material recalculates instantly. No spreadsheets, no manual math.

Built-in templates cover the trades contractors use most: concrete slabs, wall framing, metal stud framing, drywall (walls and ceilings), insulation (batt, blown-in, spray foam), shingle and flat roofing, siding, stucco, brick veneer, tile, carpet, hardwood and LVP flooring, interior and exterior paint, fencing, gutters, windows, doors, plumbing rough-in, HVAC duct, electrical circuits, fire sprinkler, demolition, paving, landscaping, countertops, and more.

Each template has adjustable properties. Tile flooring lets you pick the tile size and grout joint width. Wall framing lets you choose stud spacing. Concrete lets you set slab thickness. Change a property and the formulas update.

Custom templates. Build your own assembly from scratch with the formula editor. Reference measurement variables like SF, LF, COUNT, and PERIM. Add properties your crew can adjust per job. Use functions like CEIL, IF, MIN, MAX, and ROUND. The live preview shows calculated results as you type so you can verify the math before saving.

Tool Sets

A tool set creates a complete group structure for your trade in one click. Instead of manually creating groups, naming them, picking colors, and attaching templates one by one, pick a tool set and everything is ready.

Built-in tool sets for Electrical (Residential and Commercial), Plumbing, HVAC, Framing, Drywall, Roofing, Concrete, Painting, Flooring, Landscaping, and General Contractor. Each one creates the right groups with the right assembly templates already attached.

You can also create custom tool sets with your own group structure, colors, and assembly assignments.

Community Library

Templates and tool sets you create can be shared with the entire Easy Takeoffs community. Submit your template for review, and once approved, it appears in the community library for everyone to use.

Browse the library from the Templates page or directly from the assembly picker when you are working on a project. Community templates show a teal badge so you can tell them apart from the official ones. Bookmark the ones you use often and they appear in your My Library section for quick access.

The review system keeps quality high. Templates go through admin review before they are published. If your template needs changes, you get specific feedback explaining what to fix. Published templates stay live even while you submit updates, so other users are never disrupted.

Interactive Learning Center

The old tooltip tutorials are gone, replaced by a proper learning system. Interactive lessons walk you through the app step by step, from uploading your first PDF to building custom assembly templates.

Four categories:

• Getting Started covers PDF upload, navigation, scale calibration, and your first measurement.
• Working Smarter covers groups, annotations, and keyboard shortcuts.
• Managing Projects covers exporting, sharing, and organizing your work.
• Advanced covers properties, assemblies, and the formula system.

Each lesson loads a pre-built practice environment so you can focus on the topic without needing your own plans. A pulse highlight system guides you to the right buttons and menus as you go. Progress saves automatically so you can pick up where you left off.

Four learning paths bundle lessons by goal: Quick Start (get productive in 15 minutes), Full Course (everything from basics to advanced), Measurement Pro (deep dive on measurement tools), and Project Manager (sharing, exporting, organization).

Projects Page

The old dashboard is now the Projects page. Same URL with a redirect so bookmarks still work. The redesign adds:

• Stat cards showing your project count, document count, and measurement count at a glance.
• Search to find projects by name instead of scrolling.
• Consistent navigation via a sidebar that appears on every page: Projects, Templates, Learn, Support, and Settings.
• Time-based greeting that changes throughout the day.

Unlimited Projects

The 50 project limit is gone. Create as many projects as you need. Storage limits still apply (1 GB per account), but there is no cap on the number of projects, documents, or measurements.

Measurement limits also went up: 5,000 measurements and 5,000 annotations per document, up from 2,000 and 1,000 respectively.

In-App Notifications

A notification banner at the top of the Projects page shows product updates, tips, and announcements. Each notification is styled by type: blue for updates, amber for tips, green for promotions. On mobile, swipe left and right to browse multiple notifications. Dismiss individually or click the action button to go straight to the relevant page.

Under the Hood

• Formula engine handles cross-item dependencies and circular reference detection
• Assembly data is saved into each group at apply time, so template updates never break existing takeoffs
• OS-aware keyboard shortcuts display the correct modifier key on Mac and Windows
• Vertex editing on area measurements: drag to move, double-click to add, Delete to remove
• Right-click context menus on measurements and annotations with batch operations
• Rubber band selection uses geometry intersection instead of bounding box for accurate multi-select
• Document duplication with full PDF copy
• Dedicated support page with contact form
• Security and data integrity improvements
